Sri Lanka to import rice from India

The Sri Lankan Government has decided to import 50,000 metric tons of rice from India under a loan assistance program. The decision has been taken upon a discussion held at the Prime Minister’s Office today. Importing rice from India is expected to address the rice shortage and control the unusual rice prices in the island.

Dollar selling rate rises again

The Dollar selling rate of several licensed commercial banks in Sri Lanka was listed at Rs. 340 today (18). Its selling rate which was listed at Rs. 330 during the last week has increased by Rs. 10 and continues to rise.
