Swadeshi Khomba illuminates Wariyapola, Kolambagama Miyugunarama Rajamaha Viharaya during Poson

The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, the pioneer and the market leader in herbal personal care products in one of its community support initiatives recently sponsored the “Aloka Poojawa” of the historic Wariyapola, Kolambagama Miyugunarama Rajamaha Viharaya on the Poson Full Moon Poya day, “Swadeshi Khomba Aloka Puja Sathkaraya” is a concept of Swadeshi Chairperson Ms. Amari Wijewardene.

Situated in the Kurunegala district, the Wariyapola, Kolambagama Miyugunarama Rajamaha Viharaya is considered as one of the first temples built by King Devanampiyatissa (250-210 BC). It is said that the king-built temples at every gauwa (approximately 4 miles) and this is considered one of the very first built by him. The temple is today more popular for its “Sri Vishnu Devalaya” which is built in form of a “Tampita Viharaya”. The temple also owns an ancient buddha statue with Varada Mudra which is uncommon in Sri Lanka.
