Hutch together with Fortumo launches direct carrier billing in Sri Lanka

In continuing efforts to deliver a universal service experience to smartphone users, Hutch, the preferred choice for mobile broadband services in Sri Lanka has collaborated with the leading mobile technology company, Fortumo.

The Fortumo partnership enables Hutch customers direct carrier billing access allowing hassle free payments for digital subscriptions of top international content services through their Hutch post-paid or pre-paid mobile balance.

Fortumo direct carrier billing comes to the fore as a secure online payment method that caters to today’s wide-reaching costomers’ needs. What’s significant about this service is that the user does not need to create any account or share personal data and the bill is directly charged from the main account balance in a simple 2-step verification process.

Commenting on the new service, Firaz Markar – AGM Strategic Partnerships at Hutch said, “We are delighted to partner with Fortumo to provide direct carrier billing service, which is highly embraced around the world as an ideal digital payment solution. Now, our customers can avail much awaited access to subscribe and pay seamlessly for their favorite content from apps, games, music, videos and other top services without having to use credit/debit cards. We are hopeful that direct carrier billing will revolutionize Sri Lanka’s online bill payment space within a short time span. ”

“A growing proportion of the digital content audience is located in emerging markets such as Sri Lanka. These local users can not be reached through traditional payment and marketing channels. Carrier billing is the most widely available local payment method and we are excited to work with Hutch in making payments on their network available to our merchants,” said Taavi Krusell, VP of Telco Partnerships at Fortumo.
