CII delegation explore more industrial and investment cooperation between Sri Lanka and India

A high-level business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) met with Chathuranga Abeysinghe,  Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, on Tuesday (October 13) in Colombo to explore pathways for expanding industrial, investment, and business cooperation between the two nations.

The delegation comprised prominent Indian business leaders representing key strategic sectors, including renewable energy, healthcare, information technology, steel, footwear manufacturing, and industrial tanks and liners. Senior executives from the CII also participated in the high-level talks.

The meeting served as an important platform to transition existing  economic ties into more productive industrial and business partnerships. Officials noted that high-level engagements of this nature are crucial for identifying targeted investment opportunities within Sri Lanka’s industrial landscape, reinforcing business-to-business (B2B) relationships, and creating frameworks for mutually beneficial cooperation. The Minister highlighted that attracting international investment, facilitating the exchange of technology and expertise, and creating broader market access for local businesses remain top priorities for advancing Sri Lanka’s industrial and entrepreneurship sectors.

To sustain this momentum, the government aims to maintain constructive engagement with the international business community. Continued collaboration with premier organizations like the CII is expected to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, enhance the local investment environment, and lay the groundwork for long-term industrial development and economic growth.
