Evolution Auto, Sampath Bank Join Forces to Support Sri Lanka’s EV Shift

Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd and Sampath Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Sri Lanka, combining Evolution Auto’s growing portfolio of EVs with Sampath Bank’s financial solutions to make EV ownership more accessible to customers.

Along with a range of EVs that meet various mobility needs, the partnership is intended to offer customers considering electric mobility with suitable financing options. It brings together two well-known companies from the financial and automotive sectors with a common goal of making the transition to more sustainable mobility a practical option for Sri Lankan businesses and consumers.

Access to the right vehicle is just one aspect of the ownership decision for customers considering an EV. Financing can also play an important role in making the transition achievable. Through the partnership, Evolution Auto and Sampath Bank hope to give customers a more convenient method to learn about EV ownership and their financing options.

Commenting on the partnership, Virann De Zoyza, Group CEO, Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd, said: “The next stage of EV adoption in Sri Lanka involves more than just introducing new technologies to the market; it also involves making those technologies simpler for consumers to choose and own. Our partnership with Sampath Bank enables us to meet that requirement from both perspectives, providing customers with access to a growing selection of EVs while establishing workable financing options to support their purchase. This, in our opinion, is a significant step toward making electric mobility more accessible to Sri Lankan individuals, families, and businesses.”

AVATR, IM Motors, XPENG, Riddara, and KYC are just a few of the internationally recognised brands that make up Evolution Auto’s growing EV portfolio. The company can address a variety of needs for individuals, families, and businesses thanks to its diverse portfolio, which includes anything from premium passenger vehicles to commercial and utility-oriented mobility solutions.

The partnership coincides with Sri Lanka’s growing interest in electric mobility, as businesses and consumers take into account the long-term effects of vehicle ownership, operating costs, and environmental impact. The collaboration aims to address one of the practical considerations associated with advancing toward EV adoption: access to suitable financing by combining vehicle solutions with financial expertise.

For professionals, families and environmentally conscious consumers considering their next vehicle, the partnership creates an opportunity to explore EV ownership with both the vehicle and financing considerations addressed through the collaboration. Additionally, it gives businesses considering EVs for fleet requirements and corporate mobility a broader pathway to evaluate electric alternatives for their operations.

The MOU is a reflection of a larger change in Sri Lanka’s mobility landscape, where collaboration between various sectors is becoming more important as the country moves toward electrification. Evolution Auto and Sampath Bank are attempting to shift EV ownership from being seen as a niche alternative to a more practical mobility option by connecting automotive solutions with financial access.

As Sri Lanka moves towards cleaner and smarter transportation, the partnership puts a simple proposition within reach: the move to electric can be a choice Sri Lankan consumers can realistically make.
