DIMO, a leading diversified conglomerate in Sri Lanka, recently launched ‘Powerfully You’, a novel initiative developed in-house to further strengthen its focus on women empowerment at DIMO. The initiative focused on Women’s Leadership Development, targeting women in junior and middle management levels at DIMO. The initiative was implemented in partnership with Ms. Senela Jayasuriya, an award-winning Transformation Coach.
Ms. Dilrukshi Kurukulasuriya, Executive Director and the Group Chief Human Resources Officer of DIMO said, “This is an interactive and thought-provoking program to help women boost self-confidence, learn to overcome the insecurity complex, and be resilient and agile to support the next level growth of the company and market challenges. It is very important to realize the true potential of the ladies of the DIMO Tribe, as they direct their own life and goals while keeping with our employee value proposition, making work enjoyable and rewarding.”
“Powerfully You” was also developed to support the company’s aspiration to increase the representation of women in decision making roles from 10% to 40% by the year 2025. Its aim is to produce female employees who are willing to challenge the status quo, display resilience in the face of ambiguity, and are capable of effectively navigating the dynamics of work life balance. Most importantly, it aims to create a female workforce that is committed to their professional development and are able to reach their full potential.
The program is to be conducted over a period of 6 months between October 2022 and March 2023. It is designed to follow a leadership X empowerment framework that includes developmental workshops and introspection sessions. A mentorship program will also be conducted in conjunction with the workshops, and will act as a reflective program, where participants can learn the practical application of the theories discussed. The program will also provide an opportunity for participants to learn from, and be inspired by, senior employees who have successfully navigated professional growth.
The ’Powerfully You’ initiative is synonymous with DIMO’s progressive nature and its ambition of increasing the participation of women within the company. The program also symbolises DIMO’s dedication to fuelling the dreams and aspirations of the women in the DIMO Tribe.
